> Europameister 2009!!! <
12.12.2009: Saturday proved to be very rewarding for Team Schöpp as the SC Riessersee rink claimed the 2009 Le Gruyère European Curling Championship with a 7:5 win over defending champs Mirjam Ott. The turning point came in the 5th end where Germany was able to steal 2 against the Swiss to take the lead for the first time 5:3. In the 10th end, the Germans were able to sit shot stone and leave Mirjam Ott a near impossible shot for the victory, which was not made, and Germany won the title! The win is the culmination of a lot of hardwork, dedication, and determination by all the team members, and their statistics in the final proved this. The team would like to thank all of those who have supported them not only this season, but throughout the previous years, and hopes that this European title is only the start of great things to come! The team would also like to thank the host committee in Aberdeen for a fabulous week of fun and hospitality! More on the win to come later!

> Successful Defense in Küssnacht! <
05.11.2009: Team Schöpp successfully defended their title at the CCT Grasshopper Women’s Masters in Küssnacht after defeating the American Olympic Team skipped by Deb McCormick. The victory earned Team Schöpp 12’300 CHF and after a Quarter-Final appearance the previous week in Basel at the CCT Re/Max Women’s Masters, the team now stands 3rd on the Curling Champions Tour Women’s Money List (only $150 CAD behind Privivkova of Russia in 1st). The team followed up their success on the CCT with an impressive Quarter-Finals appearance at the GP Inter tournament in Bern. With 3 tournaments left (1 CCT tournament in Wetzikon) before the Europeans in Aberdeen, the team is feeling good and ready to make a successful run in Scotland in preparation for the Olympics in February. Please visit our EM Aberdeen page which will have all the info you need to know regarding Team Schöpp at this year’s Le Gruyère European Championship in Aberdeen. Thanks once again for all the support ~ Team Schöpp!

> Germany finishes 5th at EM Mixed...<
13.10.2009: After a strong round-robin at the EM Mixed in Prague, the defending European Mixed champs bowed out in the qualifying round to a strong Czech Republic squad by a final of 2:7. The difference was a 4-ender scored by the Czechs in the 6th which put an end to the 8-end encounter. The loss meant a 5th place finish for Team Schöpp’s German foursome and a disappointing end to the defense of their title. Nonetheless, it was another enjoyable experience by all and thanks should be given to Karel Kubeska and his organizing committee on an excellent European Mixed event! As the season moves on towards Vancouver in February, the Women’s events on the Curling Champions Tour heat up with events in Basel (5th place) and Küssnacht for the Grasshopper Masters this coming weekend. Keep up with all the results here and also check out the Curling Champions Tour website for more detailed draw information.

> Summer Training Continues....<
07.09.2009: After a few months since winning the DM Mixed, curling has not been far off the minds of Team Schöpp in preparation for a long and competitive season. A summer which has been filled with bonspiels, on-ice and off-ice training has been progressing very well in preparation for this Olympic season. However, the first major tournament on the agenda is the EM Mixed in Prague (CZ) at the end of September. Team Rainer Schöpp has been placed in a group featuring Denmark, Switzerland, Latvia, Spain, Poland, Slovakia and Lithuania. The defending champs are up to the challenge of maintaining their gold medal which they won last year in Kitzbühel, and after a summer season of good results, the team is well prepared for the task ahead. Following the EM Mixed, the women`s team will embark on their competitive season beginning in Basel for the Women`s Masters all leading towards the Le Gruyère Europeans in Aberdeen in December and ultimately the Olympic Games in February 2010. Stay tuned for more news and results as the season progresses!

> Strong finish to disappointing week in Gangneung <
03.29.2009: The final day of the Mount Titlis Women’s Worlds was a strong finish for Team Schöpp with a 9:6 win over Korea and an 8:6 win over Russia to close out the championship with a 6-5 record in 6th place. While the result was not what the team had hoped for, they secured their first goal of guaranteeing Germany a place in the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and thus are qualified to represent the German squad in just under one year. In addition, Team Schöpp will represent Germany at the Le Gruyère Europeans in Aberdeen in December! The team would like to thank everyone in Gangneung for their hospitality and organization of a fantastic event in this beautiful beachside location. The German Mixed Championship remains on the calendar, and then training for an important Olympic year in 2009-10. Stay tuned to this website for more details on upcoming plans. Thanks again to all Team Schöpp fans for your support during the week & we look forward to a successful future!

> German Champions Again!: Next Stop --- Gangneung! <
02.15.2009: Team Schöpp featuring Andrea, Monika, Mel, and Stella were victorious in this past weekend’s Deutsche Meisterschaft in Garmisch after winning 3 games in the 3-Team Double Round-Robin. After a hard 8:4 victory against Frederike Templin on Friday Night, the team defeated veteran skip Petra Tschetsch 7:3 and then again defeated Templin 6:2 to solidify the title. The 4th game was not necessary as the standings were already confirmed. The win qualifies Team Schöpp for the World Women’s in Gangneung in March for Germany, as well as the European Championships in December in Aberdeen, Scotland. The National win comes on the heels of an excellent performance in Bern where Team Schöpp finished in 2nd place losing a heartbreaking final to Canada’s Shannon Kleibrink in an extra-end. Nonetheless, there are encouraging times ahead, and all on the path to the final goal of reaching the podium in Vancouver 2010. The Worlds page for Gangneung is already posted, and will be updated later with qualifying teams and the draw schedule. Click here for the final results of the DM in Garmisch, and archived video of the semi-final in Bern (against Tirinzoni-SUI) here and the final in Bern (against Kleibrink-CAN) here.

> Tough loss to Denmark in Page Playoff Game, but strong week in O’Vik overall <
12.11.2008: After a solid week in Örnsköldsvik at the Europeans, Team Schöpp came up a bit short in the Page 3-4 game against Angelina Jensen’s Danish rink with a 7:8 defeat in an extra-end. The game was similar to the Round-Robin encounter between these two teams where it also went to an extra-end before the Danes triumphed. Despite the setback however, the German National Team had some excellent victories against the top 2 teams of Switzerland’s Ott and against Sweden’s Norberg, and is definitely rounding into shape ahead of important tournaments still to come in the season. The next step on the road to Vancouver 2010 is the German National Championship in Garmisch in February which acts as a qualifier towards the Worlds in Gangneung, South Korea in March. The Worlds are especially important this year in order to solidify important Olympic points towards qualifying Germany for the Olympic Games in Vancouver. Next up, however, is the important Bernese Ladies Cup at the beginning of January where all the best women’s teams in the world will gather to refine their skills and play their rivals ahead of National & International Championship events. Team Schöpp would like to thank the organizing committee in Ö’Vik for an outstanding week and thank all of our fans for supporting the team. We look forward to more exciting moments in the next couple of months!!!

> European Mixed Champions!!! <
09.27.2008: Team Rainer Schöpp with third Andrea Schöpp, second Sebastian Jacoby, lead Mel Robillard, and alternates Helmar Erlewein & Monika Wagner claimed the European Mixed title today in Kitzbühel with a hard-fought 5:3 victory over Team Jiri Snitil of the Czech Republic. The final was tight from the beginning and after 4 ends was tied a 2:2. A steal of 1 for Team Schöpp in the 6th end proved to be pivotal as the Czechs scored 1 in the 7th, and Germany came home with a 1 point lead and hammer. The Czechs had a good end going in the 8th when Andrea made a fantastic angle-raise takeout to put Snitil in trouble again. With Snitil’s final shot of the game to make another angle-raise takeout, he had to make it in order to force an extra-end but instead missed on a jam and Germany became the 4th champions of the European Mixed Championship after two bronzes in 2005 (Andorra) and 2007 (Madrid). The title in Kitzbühel is a fabulous start to the competitive season, and will act as a springboard for the rest of this pre-Olympic year which will include the Europeans in O-Vik in December and hopefully pending qualification, the World Women’s in Gangneung City, Korea in March. However, there’s lots of work before that and a good celebration right now after this victory....The next competitive event for Team Andrea Schöpp will be the Women’s Masters in Basel...Until then, Team Schöpp wishes to thank everyone in Kitzbühel for a great week and also to those who supported the team during the week.

> German Mixed Champions!!! <
04.23.2008: Team Rainer Schöpp won the German Mixed Championship in Füssen with a 5:1 record and will now advance to represent Germany at the European Mixed Championship in Kitzbühel, Austria from 22-27 September 2008. Rainer was supported with Andrea, Sebastian Jacoby, Mélanie, and Helmar Erlewein. Monika Wagner will join the team as the 6th player at the EM Mixed. It was a successful championship for the SCR teams as Daniel Neuner and his teammate Dominik Greindl in Junior Men’s play finished 2nd place while the other half of Daniel’s junior team skipped by Florian Zahler with Johannes Glaser and Team Schöpp’s Anna Hartelt and another SCR Junior in Stella Heiß finished 3rd. Well done to these two teams!!! With this victory, it officially closes the 2007-08 season. The 2008-09 schedule will be posted when it is confirmed and will feature the European Mixed Championship and Le Gruyère European Championship in Sweden in December. Next season will be particularly important as it is the final full season before the Olympic season in 2010. Hence, the key will be to qualify Germany for the World Women’s Championship in Gangneung City, Korea and to earn enough points to qualify the Germans for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Additionally, we invite you to visit the Photo Gallery as some impressions from Vernon at the Ford Worlds have been added. So until later, we wish everyone a safe and fun summer and thank you for all the support during the season! Stay tuned as usual for continuous updates leading into the 2008-09 season! Cheers ~ Team Schöpp!

> Disappointing End to the Ford World Women’s <
03.31.2008: Team Schöpp wound up their campaign at the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada with a tough 5:6 loss to the eventual silver medallists from China. The week ended with a 4-7 record and 9th place, but the record could have easily been different after 4 games were lost by only 1 point. In the end, the team played well but faced 11 teams who brought their very best games which made it difficult to find the extra points to win. The team also earned 4 Olympic points towards qualifying Germany for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. Although the team’s final ranking was disappointing, Team Schöpp wishes to thank the organizing committee and volunteers in Vernon for an outstanding experience and would also like to congratulate the medallists at this year’s event. The team will now begin the process of building towards the 2008-09 campaign and in particular, the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships in Sweden in December. Make sure to check out the site for up-to-date news and schedules leading into next season! Until then, best wishes to all!!

> Team Schöpp: German Champions again!!! <
02.11.2008: Team Schöpp won the Deutsche Meisterschaft/Bundesliga this weekend in Schwenningen with a 3-1 record. Only 3 teams competed including Dany Jentsch & Petra Tschetsch in the double round-robin. After Friday & Saturday, Team Schöpp won their three games with a tough 6:4 victory in the first game against Tschetsch where they stole the last 3 ends for victory. Then on Saturday, the team had two victories with a 9:5 victory against Jentsch and an easy 10:4 victory over Tschetsch again. The final game on Sunday against Jentsch was basically to determine 2nd and 3rd place between Jentsch & Tschetsch and had no implications to Team Schöpp’s placement. The team now will proudly wear the colours of the DCV at the Ford World Women’s Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada from 22-30 March and then again at the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships in O-Vik, Sweden in December. The mission at the Ford Worlds will again be to accrue as many Olympic points as possible in order to qualify Germany for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 as well as to earn a medal for Germany. We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support during the season and look forward to providing more excitement as the rest of the season draws to a close! Until then, best wishes and good curling to everyone!!!

> Team Schöpp finishes a disappointing week in Füssen at 3-6 <
12.06.2007: Team Schöpp completed a very difficult week in Füssen at the 2007 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships on Wednesday with a very key victory over the defending European Champs from Russia skipped by Ludmila Privivkova 8:3 and then narrowly lost 7:8 to Sweden’s Anette Norberg by giving up a steal in the extra end for the loss. Nonetheless, the week ended relatively positive after a frustrating week with the ice and stones where nothing seemed to get on track. In the end though, two main goals were achieved out of this. The German team’s 3-6 record was good enough for a share of 6th place which guaranteed Germany’s placement into the A-Division at next year’s Europeans in O-Vik, Sweden and also guaranteed Germany’s place at the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Vernon, BC, Canada in the spring. By qualifying Germany for the Worlds, this allows the German team to accumulate points towards the qualification process for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver as only 10 teams qualify for the Games. Despite the setbacks of the week, Team Schöpp would like to thank the organizing committee and sponsors of this year’s European Championships for a great week of curling, the fans who have showed their support during the week for the team, and we would also like to wish the best of luck to all of the remaining teams in contention for the title. Team Schöpp would also like to thank Chris Haller for being the alternate for this week and also playing with the team as Anna had to skip a game due to injury. While Team Schöpp played the Europeans, this does not guarantee them a place in the Worlds in Vernon. The DM in January and February will determine Germany’s representative to the Worlds. Until then, the team will continue training in Garmisch and compete in the IBDC in Bern in January as usual. Thanks again and have a safe and happy holidays until we see you in the new year!
